| Letter: Useless Miles? To the Editor: Your Practical Traveler column “Curves in the Road to Miles Redemption” (Feb. 10) was spot on — finding an award ticket or being able to use miles even for an upgrade on a paid ticket is like looking for a needle in a haystack. The problem has become such a headache that last year I converted all my credit cards from ones that gave you miles to ones that give you a percentage rebate at the end of the year. Letter: Helping the Poor To the Editor: Regarding “Slum Visits: Tourism or Voyeurism” (March 9): As a parent of Indian descent who volunteers time and money to charitable organizations working in poor areas around the world, I read this piece with much interest. Having visited a slum in India just this past January, the title stopped me in my tracks.
